GAIL WERNER earned her M.F.A. in drawing and painting from California State University, Long Beach in 1985. She is a painter working in oil and encaustic. She is also a printmaker specializing in the monotype process (the painterly print). The Southern California desert and mountain landscape, plant and animal life, and cultural elements related to her Native American background inspire her work. She is a member of the Cupeño band of Mission Indians located in Southern California.
Gail has exhibited widely throughout the United States. Her most recent solo shows were at the Stone Rose Gallery in Long Beach, California and at the Merced College Art Gallery, Merced, California. Recent group shows include “Native: Contemporary Art,” South Bay Contemporary , Rolling Hills Estates, California, “Discovery Series I,” Chico Art Center, Chico, California, and “The Original Show,” Flow Art Space, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
